Simple Lives

There's a quietness to life in this city. No one is rushing around as we do at home. It's infectious!

This house doesn't have television and the children don't use computers. Because the Honduran public school system is so poor, every year the family purchases the kids' courses and books from Guatemala.

Every day after their parents leave for work, the kids, aged 6, 10 and 16 begin to study without supervision and each year they go to Guatemala to sit their exams. So they can't feign the daily study bit.

Tonight the father and daughter created a small program of music. He played guitar and she violin. Rudy said, It's an honour to play with Karen."

In the photos below, you'll see the local constabulary with their honking guns, kids playing as ours do and women carrying baskets of laundry up the street as ours don't.

My head aches from 24/7 Spanish. As they say, "Be careful what you wish for."

Hasta la manana. Be well.
