Song and Dance

Life in this city is a constant party. The Spaniards built their Catholic churches on top of indigenous temples and destroyed the Mayan books. But in the 1500s they knew how to plan cities with large public squares for people to meet and perform.

Even early on a Sunday morning, groups of people are practicing a combination of step and Zumba. People seem to live in their parks and squares -- kids ride around in little battery operated cars, lovers kiss, families stroll, dancers perform, singers belt out their songs. We are constantly in awe of here -- so different from Toronto where people seem to be in such a rush and not having a lot of fun.

Just after arriving, we were invited to a jazz concert and every day since then we've found music -- on the street or in a square, in a church or in a hotel.
